How to Prolong the Service Life of Consumable Parts of Plasma Cutting Machine?

1. Ensure the correct air pressure and flow of the plasma cutting machine


The correct gas pressure and flow of the plasma is very important to the service life of the consumables. If the air pressure is too high, the life of the electrode will be greatly reduced; if the air pressure is too low, the life of the nozzle will be affected. Refer to the instruction manual of the plasma cutter when setting.


2. The plasma cutting machine adopts a reasonable cutting distance


The cutting distance is the distance between the cutting nozzle and the surface of the workpiece. This distance should be kept as constant as possible, generally around 3-8MM. If it is too far, it will not only consume too much power, the cutting penetration ability of the plasma cutting machine will decrease, and it will consume relatively more electrodes. Reduce the service life of the electrode; if it is too close, it is simple, but it costs a lot of nozzles, the service life of the nozzle will be doubled, and even burned when installed; when perforating, try to use 2 times the normal cutting distance or use plasma. The maximum height the arc can pass.


3. The perforation thickness and cutting thickness of the plasma cutting machine should be within the allowable range of the machine system


The plasma cutting machine cannot pierce the steel plate exceeding the working thickness, and the usual piercing thickness is 1/2 of the normal cutting thickness . Try to cut within the normal cutting thickness range rated by the plasma cutting machine , try not to cut at the limit cutting thickness, the normal cutting thickness of the cutting machine is generally 60% of the maximum cutting thickness marked by the manufacturer , try to cut within this thickness range, It can better protect the cutting nozzle.


4. Keep the gas of the plasma cutting machine dry and clean


Plasma systems require dry and clean plasma gas to function properly. Dirty gas is often a problem with gas compression systems, shortening the life of consumables and causing abnormal damage. The way to test the gas quality is to set the torch in the test state and put a mirror under it to consume the gas in the torch. If water vapor and mist appear on the mirror, you need to find out the cause.
